LOCAL ESSENTIALS

Our cottage is a 10-minute drive to the town of Apsley, which offers all the retail and service options you need to make your stay with us epic!

RETAIL

  • LCBO - Shuts at 6 pm, so plan accordingly!
  • Sayers - Apsley's only grocery store has finally re-opened after a devastating fire shut it down in 2020.  You'll find all the essentials you can expect from cottage-area supermarkets (meat, produce, baked goods). More grocery stores (No Frills, Foodland) located in Bancroft are a 35-minute drive away.
  • The Grape & Wedge -- For more foodie fare The Grape & Wedge is your go-to. Saffron, artisanal cheeses, tinned scallops from Spain --  the Wedge has a great selection of thoughtfully curated deli items. Plus, their lunch menu is fantastic! Well worth the trip into town, but order ahead of time, unless you like to wait.
  • Calm N Ground - Good coffee, wraps, muffins, and sandwiches, Calm N Ground is also open for breakfast. No seating is available, so everything is grab-and-go.
  •  Woody's Market - Located at the corner of Hwy 28 and Burleigh, Woody's serves up fries, burgers, and hotdogs via its kitchen trailer, with outdoor seating available. Inside its store, it also provides prepared frozen meals; Woody's offers catering services, too, in case you're planning a big do.
  • Guardian Drugs - It's a pharmacy, which keeps odd hours. Call ahead to see if they're open.
  • Home Hardware - Ideal for tools, grilling equipment and fishing and tackle.
  • Stone's Live Bait - Stone's stocks live bait and a variety of tackle and fishing gear. Located on the north side of Hwy 28, just south of Apsley.
